On Friday there was a huge turnout for the morning screening of the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" at Cinema 5 in Whakatane. Energy Options, the local company for sustainability and energy efficiency, sent a group of 14 staff to see the award-winning movie about climate change and global warming, starring presenter Al Gore.
Energy Options Manager Jo Hunt said: "We think this is an excellent way for our staff to get the latest information on the global situation. Energy Options is all about sustainability and this movie shows so clearly how important our work is."
"Although the facts about global warming and the dangers of CO2 emissions are not new to our employees, this movie reinforces their knowledge and gives so many examples about what's wrong in the world. We can use this knowledge when we advise our customers who are interested in making a difference."
The film is a documentary which explores data and predictions regarding climate change, interspersed with personal events from the life of Al Gore.

Through a presentation that he has presented worldwide, Gore reviews the scientific evidence for global warming, discusses the politics and economics of global warming, and describes the consequences he believes global climate change will produce if the amount of human-generated greenhouse gases is not significantly reduced in the very near future.
"Everybody who has children or grandchildren or expects to live for another thirty years should see this film. Each of us can contribute to reducing CO2 emissions." said Ms Hunt. "The technology is there, it is affordable, and it also means that you can save a lot of money on your energy bills."
Energy Options is a community-owned business that has been providing sustainable solutions for homes and businesses since 2003. Their products include superior insulation, high-quality solar water heating, sustainable heating, and energy management services.
